On May 14, 1960, eight-year-old Brenda Doucette was reported missing en route to her neighborhood school, in Bristol, Connecticut. Found dead the same day, she had been stabbed 22 times with a screwdriver and strangled with a man's sweater. Police arrested 38-year-old George Davies, a paroled sex offender, and he surprised them with his instant confession in two murders. The first victim , 16-year-old Gaetane Boivin, had been kidnapped and killed in identical fashion at Waterbury, Connecticut, on May 9, her body recovered by searchers twelve days later.
