On September 8, 1973, two boys reported discovery of a man's corpse, Iying in a field at Perinton, New York, near Rochester. The victim was identified as Carmello DeJesus, age 39, and a coroner's report described the cause of death as suicide, a single gunshot through one lung. A Spanish Bible was discovered near the body, with a note inside. It read: "I have killed four persons and I don't want to kill anyone else. That's why I want to end my life." Three victims were named in the note, including: Octavia Ford, 42, shot in Bridgeton, New Jersey, on September 17, 1971; Sandra Postell, 30, murdered at a cheap motel in Palm Beach County, Florida, on January 5, 1973; and Milagro Tena, stabbed to death in Camden, New Jersey, on September 2, 1973. No details were provided on the fourth murder, which remains a mystery.
