On the night of March 28, 1982, 16-year-Old Wanda Faye Reddick was dragged screaming from her bed by a kidnapper who had first crept through the family home, removing light bulbs from their sockets in an effort to delay pursuit. Her lifeless body was recovered six days later, outside Richland, in rural Stewart County. Reddick's abduction and murder marked the third similar incident targeting local teenagers in less than a year. Tanya Nix, 14, and 17-year-old Marie Sellers had died in 1981, their killer unidentified. At this writing, there have been no further slayings in the series, and the case remains officially unsolved.
